They have many folk uses, although they are best known as a tonic herb for supporting the lymph system. Traditional Uses
Cleavers have topically been applied to treat spider and snake bites. It is also known for being combined with other herbs to treat tumors and ulcers due to its diuretic, blood purifying and hepatic actions.

Applied topically, cleavers may help with minor cuts, bruises and swelling due to its anti-inflammatory, diuretic, and antimicrobial actions.
