What do you mean the salts are blessed?

Salt in raw form.

I started Bloom & Skye as a way to marry a lot of loves in my life. A love of gardening, crafting, and esoteric things. The latter part came after I made my first herbal bath salts. Someone who knew that I also practiced shamanism requested that I also bless her salts. Soon after, another person brought up a study that was done on prisoners whose temperaments were better after ingesting blessed salts. And because these things come in threes, someone happened to strike up a conversation with me about her spell bag that contained healing salts (I am a proud attractor of all the weirdos — like attracts like).

So, by popular request, by seredipity, and after some self education mixed with tutelage, I ended up incorporating my shamanic practice into my herbal one.

How does it work?

In the most simplistic terms possible, salts are crystals. Crystals hold a lot of energy. Literally.

Our laptops, watches, are powered by crystal quartz. They can also be used to capture sound (energy) and produce it.

Salt lamps, when heated from the light bulb, are air ionizers, can boost your mood, and improve sleep. Himalayan salt lamps are the most popular because they are considered the most pure.

In more esoteric terms, crystals can also absorb energies like thoughts, intentions, emotions (and therefore, blessings). Some ways to observe this is to observe how you feel your own pet crystal. Because who hasn’t bought one from a metaphysical store? Whether if it’s a crystal quartz, rose quartz, amethyst, etc. observe how you feel before and after clearing it. Also make some observations in your own home. For instance, do you always start fights with your significant other in the kitchen? Do you also have a quartz countertop? How about in the bedroom? Do you also keep your uncleansed crystal collection on your nightstand?

How I bless salts.

Like many shamanic processes, I bless salts through song, dance, smoke and mirrors (just kidding!). But seriously, my shamanic blessing process is one where through an altered state of consciousness, I journey to the spirits of the land where the salt was taken from to ask permission for its use in healing. I then ask for any messages like words, songs or dance that the spirits of the land want me to say and do. A lot of this is intention, along with crafting with a strong and open heart that goes out to you and all that we are connected to.

Thank you for connecting to me and supporting my small business. If you’re curious about shamanism and want to learn more about it, you can check out my other blog called Sage the World on Substack.

In friendship and mirth,

Nelly, owner, formulator and salt blesser for Bloom & Skye
